Robin Gayle, PhD, MDiv

Robin is a licensed marriage and family therapist, professor of psychology, and chair of the Department of Counseling Psychology at ϾƷ where she teaches graduate-level courses to those aspiring to be psychotherapists.

Her private psychotherapy practice spans over 20 years in Kentfield, Calif. for individuals, couples, and groups where she utilizes client-centered listening, narrative therapy, guided imagery, and focusing to examine and shift reactivity, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma recovery and performance enhancement.

Robin specializes in group therapy, is a trained facilitator in Rothberg's “Working With the Judgmental Mind”, and an authorized meditation teacher and retreat leader. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, American Group Psychotherapy Association, American Association of University Professors, and Imagery International.

Research Interests

Areas of special interest and publication are in co-creating meaningful dialogues, mentoring personal and professional growth, metaphoric dialogue techniques, group therapy, east-west psychology, and dual-career marriages.

  • Alonso Award for Excellence in Psychodynamic Group Psychotherapy, 2010. Awarded by the Group Psychotherapy Foundation for the paper “Co-Creating Meaningful Structures within Long-Term Psychotherapy Group Culture” published in The International Journal of Group Psychotherapy (July 2009).
