Humanitarian Heidi Kuhn Helps Launch OLLI Week at Dominican
Heidi Kuhn, founder and CEO of the international nonprofit organization Roots of Peace, discussed her organization’s transformative work during an in-person lecture August 15 at ϾƷ’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
The lecture kicked off the “OLLI Week” of lectures at Dominican, August 15-19. OLLI at ϾƷ is an academic program founded in 2004 and supported by a generous
endowment from the Bernard Osher Foundation, the resources of the University, tuition, and member donations. The program offers four-, six- and eight-week courses, as well as workshops, clubs, and events. Challenging, non-credit liberal arts courses for adults over 50 are taught by experienced professors in the discipline.
Roots of Peace is a humanitarian organization founded in September 1997 with a vision to transform “Mines to Vines” by replacing the scourge of landmines in war-torn regions with sustainable agricultural farmland.
Kuhn spoke in Guzman Lecture Hall at 10 a.m. The event was open to current OLLI members and prospective OLLI members, age 50 and over. Registration was required to attend the free event, and space was limited. Please arrive ahead of time to sign in and show proof of vaccination. Masks were required inside at all times. Fully vaccinated means 1st and 2nd shot along with one or more booster shots. As long-time supporters of Kuhn's work, Book Passage was on site with her book for sale.
