Students who need to improve their English skills before entering Dominican have the convenience of attending a world-class language center located on Dominican's campus. has been the leader in Intensive English training since 1961. ELS students share the cafeteria, library and all campus facilities with Dominican students, helping to internationalize the campus community.
Instead of meeting a minimum TOEFL score, students are able to fulfill Dominican's English requirement by completing level 112 in the ELS program. Students who have met the University鈥檚 academic requirements, but have not yet satisfied the English requirement, may apply for conditional admission based upon eventual completion of the required ELS Language Centers level. You're on your way! You are embarking on an adventure of a lifetime and we are prepared to make every step of your experience as memorable as possible. In the past few years, students from more than 30 countries including Brazil, China, Ireland, Japan, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey have studied and earned degrees at Dominican. As a result, we have experience guiding international students through their entire university experience.
The following events have been prepared to welcome you when you arrive to campus:
Upon your arrival you will attend an orientation session that will help you become familiar with the University and its surroundings. Experienced faculty, staff, and student leaders will be on hand to facilitate your settling in. You will also learn how to register for classes, receive academic advising, learn to adjust to living in the United States, and much more.
At the beginning of each semester, we organize a gathering and invite all international students, both current and incoming. Our goal is to give international students an opportunity to meet each other, as well as their professors, in a fun and relaxing environment.
Through the Global Ambassadors program, Dominican international students act as ambassadors for their countries and cultures. During organized visits to elementary and secondary schools in Marin County, ambassadors give presentations on different themes related to their countries of origin.
Global Ambassadors also organize monthly round tables at Dominican and present their international perspectives to Dominican students, faculty and staff.
